LONGVIEW, Texas – Liz Bowman (Magnolia, Texas) scored two goals to lead LeTourneau, but the YellowJackets' women's soccer team was defeated by Centenary, 4-2, Tuesday night at LETU Soccer Field.

"We played fairly well," LeTourneau women's soccer head coach David Plunk said. "We didn't play a complete game. We played in spurts, and unfortunately we made some crucial defensive mental errors that caused us to have to battle from behind the whole game. I was proud of the girls for not quitting and making it very interesting when we scored the second goal to make it 3-2."

Centenary got on the board in the 17th minute when Carly Slovensky scored on an assist from Anna D'Angelo to make it 1-0.

Less than three minutes later, Slovensky connected on her second goal of the game, this time on an assist from Laurie Priftis, to make the score 2-0 in favor of Centenary.

The Ladies scored again in the 39th minute on a goal from Amanda Atwell (assisted by Madison Alexander) to take a 3-0 lead into the half.

The game turned in the 60th minute, when Bowman delivered a perfect penalty kick into the right side of the net to cut the score to 3-1.

Three minutes later, Centenary attempted to clear a pass from Maggie Judd (Bedford, Texas), but Bowman got to the ball first and buried it into the net to bring the YellowJackets to within one at 3-2.

Centenary would hold off the LeTourneau rally, providing the final margin with Slovensky's third goal of the evening, unassisted in the 85th minute.

LeTourneau was outshot 17-10, including 13-7 in shots on goal. Bowman finished the game with five shots on goal, while Kaitlyn Conway (Damascus, Md.) and Ana Vitro (Monument, Colo.) also had shots on goal for the YellowJackets.

LETU is back in action at home Thursday night, as the YellowJackets welcome Wiley College to LETU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
