The LeTourneau University women's soccer lost to Concordia University, 5-0, on Friday evening in Austin.
The YellowJackets (1-16, 0-8 ASC) were well organized throughout the contest despite playing with eight players.
Despite the defeat, LeTourneau goalkeeper
Jamie Aguillen proved again to be solid between the posts with seven saves after facing 17 shots.
Ashley Gleghorn and
Raylene Gould each had a shot in the contest.
Lena New and Chastity Carrillo each scored twice and assisted on another to lead the host Tornados (6-4-3, 4-2-1 ASC). New put the home team on the scoreboard in the 25th minute and it was the only goal that they scored in the first 45 minutes.
"We played really well tonight," said head coach Jamie Lindvall. "I thought we played the most complete game we've played with eight thus far this season. Full credit goes to Concordia for capitalizing on their opportunities; however, I am really proud of our team for the way we played tonight."
After building a 1-0 halftime lead, Concordia added to its lead when Carrillo scored back-to-back goals in the 52
nd and 61
st minute, respectively. Nicole Henderson added a header on a pass from Carrillo in the 76
th minute to extend the lead to 4-0 and the final goal of the night came when New scored an unassisted goal in the 83
rd minute.
On Saturday, the YellowJackets will travel to Belton for a 5 p.m. tilt against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
