Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

TYLER - The LeTourneau YellowJacket softball team returned to the action on Saturday as they traveled to Tyler to take on the No. 3 team in the nation, the Texas-Tyler Patriots. It was a tough day for the Jackets on the road as Texas-Tyler had 23 hits in the two games and took advantage of three LeTourneau errors to win 8-0 and 15-0.

In the first game, the Jackets (15-9, 4-6 ASC) attempted to set the tone as junior Chloe Cooper singled and moved to second on a stolen base. However, Texas-Tyler (17-1, 4-0 ASC) was able to get out of the inning unscathed and began their big day offensively.

The Patriots got runs in every inning except the fourth and won it with a run in the fifth, 8-0.

Cooper and freshman Shelby Borders came away with hits, but it was all the Jackets could get going in the first game. Freshman Karen Kubacak took the loss for LeTourneau.

A 12 run third inning broke the game wide open for the Patriots is game two as they won 15-0 in five innings. Freshman Halee Pryor was 1-for-1 at the plate while Borders, Cooper, junior Sara Whitehead, and sophomore Brooklyn Greene all had hits. Junior Kelli Parton took the loss.

All four Jacket pitchers saw action, but none of them seemed to get in any sort of rhythm against he powerful Patriot offense.

The Jackets have now dropped four in a row and will look to reverse their fortunes on Tuesday as they return home. It will not be easy as they welcome in their rivals and the No. 13 team in the nation, the East Texas Baptist Tigers. First pitch of a doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. and all fans are encouraged to come out and support.
