Box Score 2 LONGVIEW - The LeTourneau YellowJacket returned home on Tuesday evening as they welcome in the No. 13 team in the nation, the East Texas Baptist Tigers. The Jackets could not get anything rolling at the plate as timely hitting from the Tigers proved to be costly in a 3-0 and 12-0 (5) loss.
In the first game, East Texas Baptist (16-2, 4-0 ASC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a three straight hits with two outs, including a RBI triple and double, gave the Tigers the early advantage.
LeTourneau (15-11, 4-8 ASC) could not respond, getting only two hits in the first five innings. ETBU struck for another run in the third off a RBI single that popped off the bag.
The Jackets had a chance in the sixth senior Juliana Tuel and freshman Shelby Borders got something rolling with back-to-back singles with two away. However, the threat was ended after a groundout back to the pitcher.
LeTourneau again looked to strike in the seventh, starting things off with a leadoff single from junior Anna Winter, but that was all that they could get as Tiger pitcher Tawny Hank finished the Jackets off for the win.
Junior Kelli Parton got the start and allowed three runs off six hits in 2.1 innings pitched. Freshman Karen Kubacak came in relief and only allowed one hit for 4.2 innings.
Borders led the offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate while Tuel, Winter, and junior Jourdan Glover all had a hit a piece.
Things did not improve in game two, as ETBU got four in the first and two in the second all off two out hitting before putting a six spot up in the third for the 12-0 victory.
Kubacak took the loss while juniors Taylor Thibodeaux and Kaylee Pritchett each had relief work. The only hit for the Jackets came off the bat of freshman Megan Hill.
LeTourneau has now lost six in a row and will take the weekend off as they look to regroup and refocus for the latter half of the season. They will return to action on Monday, March 25th as they travel to Sherman, Texas to take on the Austin College 'Roos. First pitch of a doubleheader is set for 2 p.m.
