Jackets Season Comes to End with Pair of Losses to ETBU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MARSHALL - The LeTourneau YellowJacket softball team concluded the 2013 season on Saturday afternoon as they traveled to Marshall to take on the East Texas Baptist Tigers. The Tigers erased an early deficit to take an 8-2 win in the first game and then responded with an 8-0 (6) win in game two.

In the first game, junior Anna Winter opened the scoring up in the second inning with a solo shot to left for the 1-0 lead. However, the Tigers (30-10, 18-6 ASC) responded with runs in the third and fourth to take a 6-1 advantage.

The Jackets (21-19, 8-16 ASC) had an opportunity in the sixth to cut into the deficit as they loaded the bases with no outs. However, the Jackets were only able to get one run across on a wild pitch as ETBU remained in control and eventually took the win.

Junior Kelli Parton took the loss in game one while Winter had the lone RBI for the Jackets offensively. Junior Kaylee Pritchett added a 1-for-2 day with a run scored while freshman Megan Hill was also 1-for-2.

In game two, the Tigers scored five runs in the second and three runs in the sixth while holding the Jackets to only three hits for an 8-0 win.

Pritchett took the loss while senior Juliana Tuel, junior Jourdan Glover, and freshman Shelby Borders each had a hit on the afternoon.

The Jackets end the season at 21-19, one win shy of tying a school record, and will say goodbye to two players in Tuel and Chloe Cooper. LeTourneau thanks them for their hard work and effort on and off the field and wishes them the best in their future.

LeTourneau returns to the field in the Fall for offseason play as they look to make a run at the postseason in 2014.
