Â
In game one, Howard Payne answered a two-run top of the fifth by LeTourneau and plated three in its half of the inning for the win. The LeTourneau offense had eight hits in the loss including two from
Whitney Judd and
Megan Hill.
Jourdan Glover had a two-RBI single in the fifth to plate two runs for LeTourneau.
Six-different players for Howard Payne had a hit in the win including Jessica Morales, who had a two-RBI triple in the fifth. Tayler Rushing went the distance for HPU, allowing eight hits and striking out two for the win.
Â
In the nightcap, Thibodeaux kept HPU in check at the plate and the LeTourneau offense gave her the necessary support in the first inning. A bases loaded walk by
Megan Hill plated the first run of the contest for LeTourneau. They added a second run on a RBI single by
Taylor Kaderli and the third run came on a sacrifice fly by
Halee Pryor. LeTourneau had a runner on base in the next five innings but failed to extend its lead.
However, the 3-0 cushion was enough for the Angelton, Texas native, who surrendered just a single to Pricilla Patino in the fourth inning. Offensively, Judd had two of the four hits for LeTourneau in the win.
The same two teams will wrap up the weekend with another doubleheader at noon. The second game of the doubleheader will not be an American Southwest Conference game.
