Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 The LeTourneau University softball team dropped a doubleheader, 1-0 and 5-0 to host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday evening. Both games were highlighted by strong pitching in the circle.
Game 1
The LeTourneau softball team and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor combined for seven hits in a 12-inning contest on Friday afternoon. The seventh hit belonged to the UMHB's Chandler Henson, who drove in Maria Hinjosa from third on a RBI single for the only run and it was enough in a 1-0 win over the YellowJackets.
LeTourneau starting pitcher
Taylor Thibodeaux went the entire contest for the YellowJackets in the loss to fall to 4-1. She held UMHB to three hits and struck out three in the defeat.
Just like her LeTourneau counterpart, UMHB starting pitcher Ragsdale went the entire contest, allowing four hits and striking out 12 to raise her record to 3-1.
The best threat for LeTourneau came in the sixth inning with runners on second and third before Ragsdale picked up a clutch strikeout to erase the opportunity.
Game 2
The nightcap was controlled in the circle by Haley Parker of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Parker held the YellowJackets without a hit and struck out four in a no-hitter.
Parker got two runs of support in the second and three insurance runs in the fifth. Offensively, the Lady Cru had seven hits – two from Leah Brown to pace UMHB.
Both of the runs in the second came after a pair of errors by LeTourneau. In the fifth, UMHB again capitalized on a LeTourneau error to stretch its lead to 3-0. Then, a two-RBI double by Tori Gomez extended the lead to 5-0.
The two teams will wrap up the weekend series with a game on Saturday at noon.Â
