Box Score No. 6 East Texas Baptist scored twice in the fifth and once in the third and fourth en route to a 4-0 win over the LeTourneau University softball team on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers (17-1, 14-1 ASC) had eight hits including two from Lacey Lindsey in the win. ETBU pitcher Shelby Parker became the program's all-time strikeout leader with a complete game, 11-strikeout effort.
The YellowJackets (8-10) was held to three hits from
Jourdan Glover,
Megan Hill and
Ashley Hickerson in the loss.
Courtney Matulis was the losing pitcher after a 4.2 inning effort, allowing eight hits, four runs – three earned to fall to 1-3.
East Texas Baptist scored its first run in the third inning when Lacey Lindsey hit a solo home run. A two-out RBI double by Jayme Perez in the fourth stretched the Tigers advantage to 2-0. They scored two more in the fifth on a sacrifice fly and a RBI single by Mallory Westbook and Kaitlyn Hollingshead allowed ETBU to take a 3-0 lead.
LeTourneau returns home its next five games including a non-conference doubleheader against Linfield College on Thursday, Mar. 20 at 4 p.m.
