No. 4 Texas-Tyler Edges LeTourneau, 1-0

LeTourneau starter Kelli Parton overcame the home run to allow just three more hits and striking out two in a tough-luck loss to fall to 5-6 on the season.
Box Score A solo home run in the second inning by No. 4 University of Texas-Tyler first baseman Jackie Mendez was just enough to lead the host Patriots to a 1-0 win over the LeTourneau University softball team on Sunday. All three games in the weekend series were decided by one run.
 
Mendez led off the second inning with a solo home run for her team-leading fifth roundtripper as the Patriots improve to 26-2 overall and 20-1 in the ASC.
 
The YellowJackets, who fall to 10-16 overall and 7-14 in the ASC, mounted an early threat in the first inning off Texas-Tyler starter Kelsie Batten. In the inning, LeTourneau had runners on first and third until Batten picked up a strikeout to keep LeTourneau off the scoreboard.

Offensively, LeTourneau stranded a runner at second in the third and sixth innings. The YellowJackets had four hits on the afternoon with Ashley Hickerson, Whitney Judd, Courtney Matulis and Anna Winter each recording a hit.
 
Next for the YellowJackets is a three-game series at home against Hardin-Simmons University. The action gets started on Friday, Apr. 4 with a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
