Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The University of Texas-Dallas completed a weekend sweep of the LeTourneau softball team, winning a doubleheader – 9-1 and 10-9 on Saturday in Richardson.

The YellowJackets (12-20, 9-18 ASC) saw the Comets jump out to a 7-0 advantage when they scored three times in the first twice in the third and fourth. LeTourneau got on the board in the top half of the fifth on a RBI sacrifice bunt by Anna Winter. To start the inning, Whitney Judd was hit by a pitch; then, she stole second. The YellowJackets put runners on the corners when Jourdan Glover walked, who then stole second base. After a LeTourneau strikeout, Winter brought in Judd from third on the sacrifice bunt.

Texas-Dallas (17-17, 10-17 ASC) ended the game with two runs in its half of the 5th for the 8-run, mercy rule victory. In the win, the Comets spread 12 hits among five-different players including Avery McHugh, who led the attack with three hits and four RBI while Taylor Ervin was 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

A resilient effort in the nightcap was not enough as the YellowJackets lost to the Comets, 10-9. Glover put LeTourneau on the board, first, with a solo home run to start the contest. UTD scored three in its half of the first; then, the YellowJackets tied it in its half of the second when they scored twice.
With the game tied at 3, in the bottom of the third, the Comets plated six runs on six hits – three of which came in on a bases-clearing double by Jessica Ramos. Trailing 9-3, LeTourneau got three runs in the 4th and another in the sixth on the second home run of the game by Glover in the sixth to draw within two, 9-7.
The Comets picked up a key insurance run in its half of the sixth for a 10-7 lead. In the seventh, LeTourneau scored twice and had the tying run on second and go-ahead run at first as the Comets' Sara Davison got a fly out to end the threat and the contest for the YellowJackets.

LeTourneau returns to action with a non-conference doubleheader against Schreiner University on Thursday, April 17 at 4 p.m. Then, the YellowJackets will host Mississippi College for the final three home games of the 2014 season. The Choctaws and YellowJackets will play a doubleheader on Friday, April 18 at 4 pm and a single game on Saturday, April 19 at noon.
