Box Score 2 The LeTourneau University split a doubleheader with Concordia University on Saturday afternoon in Austin. The YellowJackets lost to the Tornados, 5-4 in game one before picking up a 9-6 win in the nightcap.
In game one, LeTourneau had seven hits in the one-run loss to the Tornados. For the YellowJackets, senior
Anna Winter went 2-for-2 with a run scored and freshman
Courtney Matulis had two of the three RBIs. Concordia spread seven hits among seven-different players including a three-RBI triple by Alexis Lynn.
The YellowJackets jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first inning. Sophomore
Megan Hill started out the game with a double to the gap in left-center field. Then, three-straight one-out walks by LeTourneau plated the first run of the afternoon. An illegal pitch by Concordia stretched the lead to 2-0 for LeTourneau.
A bases clearing, three-RBI down the left-field line by Lynn put CTX in front by a 3-2 margin in the third. They added to their lead on a pair of two-out RBI singles in the fourth for a 5-2 lead. The YellowJackets mounted a comeback in the sixth when Matulis drove in a pair to cut the deficit to one, 5-4. Concordia starter Zalysa Perez retired the YellowJackets in order in the seventh to end the contest to improve to 8-9.
In game two, LeTourneau recorded a season-high 17 hits en route to the 9-6 win in the nightcap. Senior

Kelli Parton picked up the win, allowing 10 hits and six runs – two earned in the contest.
After scoring a run each in the first two innings for a 2-0 LeTourneau lead, Concordia cut the deficit to one with a solo home run in the third. LETU retaliated with a seven-run fourth inning as they sent 13 batters to the plate. The seven runs came on eight hits including a pair of two-RBI singles by Judd and Matulis. The Tornados cut into the lead with a five-run fifth inning and mounted a threat in the sixth against Parton and the YellowJackets. Parton and LeTourneau silenced the threat with back-to-back fly outs after the Tornados had loaded the bases with one out. A 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh by Parton sealed the win.
Next, LeTourneau will continue its season at the 2014 ASC Championship on Thursday, May 1 when they will face the No. 1 seed and host Texas-Tyler at Suddenlink Field.
