Host No. 1 seed Texas-Tyler scored a run each in the fifth and sixth inning to rally for a 5-4 win over No. 8 seed, LeTourneau University in the quarterfinals of the American Southwest Conference Softball Championship Tournament. It was the fourth-straight one-run game between the two area rivals.

LeTourneau (16-25), who was playing in its first ASC Championship Tournament game, rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to score four times in the third to hold a 4-3 lead.

In the inning, the YellowJackets loaded the bases with one out. Freshman Courtney Matulis brought in sophomore Taylor Kaderli on a RBI single to left field for the first LeTourneau run of the contest to cut the deficit to 3-1. LeTourneau tied it at 3 after a RBI ground out by senior Anna Winter and a passed ball scored freshman Whitney Judd from third. Senior Jourdan Glover put LeTourneau up 4-3 on an infield RBI single.

For UT-Tyler (38-3), Raven Rodriguez drove in the game-tying run in the fifth on a single; then in the sixth with the bases loaded, she drove in the game-winning run on a fielder's choice.

The YellowJackets' Courtney Matulis, in relief of starter Kelli Parton, pitched the final 4.1 innings, scattering five hits and two runs – both earned in the loss. Kaderli had two hits for her eighth multi-hit game of the season to lead a six-hit attack for LeTourneau.

The Patriots' Kelsie Batten went the distance to improve to 25-3 as she allowed six hits and struck out three in the win. Lauren Robenalt had two of the seven hits for Texas-Tyler in the win.

The YellowJackets will face No. 7 seed, Concordia University on Thursday at 7 p.m. in an elimination game.
