The relentless pressure of the LeTourneau University men's soccer team led the visiting YellowJackets to a 4-1 win over host Hendrix on Tuesday.
Â
LeTourneau (2-4) was led by the two-goal performance from sophomore
Adam Schultz. The sophomore from Plano put LETU ahead with a goal in the sixth minute when he stole a backwards pass by the Hendrix defenders for a breakaway goal.
Â
"It was a great team effort," said LETU head coach
Matthew Haesecke. "We put pressure on them from the beginning and never let up!"
Â
After Schultz put the visitors ahead 1-0, three minutes later, freshman
Alan Flores scored his first collegiate goal to stretch the margin to 2-0. The YellowJackets extended the lead to 3-0 in the second half when Schultz scored again in the 48
th minute. To set up the goal, senior
Danny Canaviri  played a lofted ball from the midfield and Schultz beat the Warriors' defensive line to strike a half-volley that soared over the Warriors' goalkeeper and in for his second score of the contest.
Â
A penalty kick goal by Hendrix (2-7-1) spoiled the shutout bid for LeTourneau in the 71
st minute. The YellowJackets added another goal in the 80
th minute when sophomore
Hunter Swift scored on an open net courtesy of a rebound shot after an attempt by junior
Mario Lopez.
Â
The YellowJackets will next host ASC members, University of Texas-Dallas on Friday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. and Louisiana College on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. in non-conference matchups.Â
