LETU Men's Soccer Loses to Schreiner, 2-1

In a tightly contested matchup, the LeTourneau University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Schreiner University on Friday afternoon at the LETU Soccer Complex.

Schreiner (2-0) scored the game-winning goal in the 51st minute when Zach Howard found the back of the net for the Mountaineers.

LeTourneau (1-1) rallied from an early 1-0 deficit when sophomore Jacob Alldredge converted on a free kick from about 25 yards out. The Delavan, Wisconsin native bent a shot over the SU defensive wall and able to confuse the keeper for his second goal in as many games to tie the contest in the 11th minute.

Prior to the goal by Alldredge, the Mountaineers grabbed an early 1-0 lead when Ryan Hernandez scored in the fourth minute of the contest.

"It was a good team effort," said  LeTourneau University head coach Matthew Haesecke. "We made some errors that cost us the game but I expect us to learn from those mistakes and be stronger next time."

In the loss, LeTourneau senior goalkeeper Joe Myers made 10 saves in his first action of the season as he faced 21 shots. LETU forward Adam Schultz had a match-high five shots, two of which were on goal, in the loss. Schreiner goalkeeper Scott Teatelman had six saves as he faced 19 shots.

LETU will look to return to its winning ways on Saturday when they host Texas Lutheran at 4 p.m.
