The LeTourneau University baseball team swept a doubleheader from host Mary Hardin-Baylor, 17-8 and 10-4 on Saturday in Belton.

The YellowJackets (14-14, 12-10 ASC) evened its record at .500 with an offensive explosion. Â LeTourneau combined for 27 runs and 34 hits in the offensive sweep to give ample support to the LETU pitching staff.

Dillon Yates and Sellers each had three hits in the nightcap.

LETU began the day with a 17-8 rout of the Mary Hardin-Baylor. In that contest, LeTourneau jumped out to a 9-0 lead through the first running and ended the contest with a seven-run seventh inning.

11-different YellowJackets had a hit including Sellers and Bertram with four and Yates adding three. Bertram also drove in four, Sellers, Empkey and Lewis each drove in a pair for the win. LETU starting pitcher
Jordan Carns raised his record to 4-3, scattering seven hits in the win and
Josh Gimre pitched 1.1 innings of two-hit relief to end the contest.

In the nightcap, the offense pounded out its third-straight double digit hit attack. It is the second time in 2015 that LETU has had three-consecutive games with double-digit hits. This time, the offense accounted for 13 hits in the win. LeTourneau took a 6-0 lead before UMHB got on the board with a pair in the bottom of the fifth. The YellowJackets responded with a run in the sixth and eighth and two more in the seventh.
Bertram had his third-consecutive multi-hit game and Yates had his 10
th multi-hit game of the season. Plus,
Rayne Hobbs had three RBI to lead the YellowJackets.

LETU starter
Justin Jenkins pitched his sixth complete game, allowing 13 hits, four runs (four earned) and struck out three to improve to 5-3. He is one complete game away from fifth in the LETU single-season record book.

With the doubleheader sweep, LeTourneau has taken the series against UMHB for the last three seasons. The YellowJackets will look for the sweep in Sunday's series finale at 1 p.m.
