Despite out hitting the Big Blue 14-12, errors proved costly for the Jackets when nine runs were brought across in the first and second inning, resulting in a 16-5 loss.

Millikin took advantage of the LETU errors when they scored five and four runs in the first and second inning, respectively. Although the YellowJackets were able to get one run across on the first inning, the bats would not get a spark again until the fourth inning.

Freshman
Haden Simmons tried to jumpstart the offense when he hit a double down the right field line to put himself in scoring position. Sophomore
Jacob Faubion was able to bring Simmons home with a deep sacrifice fly to right field to pick up the RBI and bring the score to 11-2.

LETU (6-11, 0-6 ASC) scored for the last times in the seventh and eighth innings when they brought three home off five hits. Multiple YellowJackets contributed in the effort to cut the Millikin lead to 13-5.

Senior
Jacob Simmons had an outstanding performance at the plate as he went 3-for-3 with two walks and three singles that contributed in moving runners for LETU. The La Porte, Texas product was able to pick up one run and one RBI in his presence at the plate.Â
Kyle Jacobs went 2-for-5 in the lineup as the senior second baseman nabbed two doubles and scored two runs.

Blake Maxfeldt drops to 1-1 on the season in the loss after giving up six hits. The sophomore right-hander gave up nine runs, two of which were earned, in his two-inning effort.

Freshman
Luke Ludwig was able to shut down Millikin's offense for a couple innings in his relief. Ludwig gave up one run on two hits in his three innings.

LeTourneau will return to conference play on Friday, March 17
th when they travel to Richardson, Texas for a three-game series against the University of Texas at Dallas. The series opener will kick off at 2 p.m. on Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday.
