Box Score SAN ANTONIO – LETU Softball fell to Trinity in game one of its doubleheader Tuesday evening, 4-3.
After a scoreless first inning, the YellowJackets drew first blood in the contest when
Callie Poore hammered a pitch from Trinity's Cat Patterson over the right field gate to give the Jackets a 1-0 lead. Poore has three homeruns on the season to lead LETU.
The Tigers struck back quickly, notching a three run inning in the bottom of the third to propel ahead of the Jackets, 3-1.
LeTourneau didn't go away as it tallied one run in the top of the fifth and sixth to tie the contest at three.
Kiley Banks had a sacrifice ground out to the first basemen for an RBI, sending
Alexa Neilon in for a score.
Alysa Torres collected an RBI when she singled through the middle of the Trinity defense to advance
Kylie Grisham across home plate.
The YellowJackets played stingy defense in the bottom half of fifth and sixth innings to leave the Tigers coming up empty in both.
Trinity blanked the Jackets in the top of the final inning after three straight outs. The Tigers broke the stalemate with a sacrifice fly to right field from Abigail Miller to claim game one.
LeTourneau tallied seven hits in the first contest, led by Poore and Grisham who both had two hits apiece.
Laney Taylor took the loss for the YellowJackets, pitching 4.1 innings, allowing only three hits with one strikeout.
