Box Score BELTON, Texas – LETU softball dropped the first game of its doubleheader Friday at No. 25 Mary Hardin-Baylor, 9-2.
Mary Hardin-Baylor opened the game up with a four run inning at its first time at the plate, taking a quick 4-0 lead. The Crusaders would go on to extend its lead to six, tallying runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings after blanking the Jackets in both.
After being held scoreless the first four innings, the YellowJackets tallied its two runs in the top of the fifth when
Kenna Hendry singled down the left line for an RBI.
Laney Taylor accounted for the second run after she cranked a double for an RBI, sending Hendry in for a score.
UMHB would add three runs in the bottom of the sixth, ultimately putting the game away.
Taylor and
Alysa Torres spearheaded the Jackets at the plate, both going 2-for-3. With two hits, Taylor notches a new season-high.
Lauren Wilking also tallied one hit in the first contest.
Jade Merrell took the loss in the circle, working three innings.
LETU looks to bounce back in game two of its doubleheader at 2 p.m.
