DALLAS -- LeTourneau baseball sophomore
Luke Land was named the ASC Hitter of the Week, announced the conference on Monday.
Land earns his first career weekly honor and is the second YellowJacket to garner a weekly accolade this season (
Zac Schneider, Pitcher of the Week, March 10).
A sophomore from Longview, Texas, Land batted .583 (7-for-12) with a home run, nine RBIs, a 1.000 slugging percentage, and an OPS of 1.722 on the week for the YellowJackets. He had at least one hit and one RBI in all four games. Land went 2-for-4 with a home run (grand slam) and four RBIs in a 15-9 win over Occidental. He was 1-for-1 with an RBI and three walks in a 5-4 loss to Sewanee before going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a double in a loss to Concordia Wisconsin. Against No. 1-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater, Land was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
On the year, Land is hitting .359 and is tied for the team lead with two home runs while being second with 14 RBIs. His 1.044 OPS leads the team.
LeTourneau (6-10) returns home on Thursday vs. Southwestern (7 p.m.).
