DALLAS -- After a powerful display all week, LeTourneau baseball graduate student
Dane Jones was named the ASC Hitter of the Week, announced the conference on Monday.
Jones collects his first weekly honor of the season and the fifth of his career.
A graduate student from Keller, Texas, Jones led LeTourneau to a 4-1 week with a .522 batting average (12-for-23) with seven home runs, 17 RBIs, 14 runs scored, and an OPS of 2.171. Jones homered in all four games of the Hardin-Simmons series -- including three straight two-homer games -- as he totaled seven in the series with 17 RBIs. He went 4-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs in a game-two win and had four RBIs each in the final two games of the series.
Jones has 12 home runs over the last 11 games, and 14 on the season which leads Division III. His 55 career home runs are already a program and ASC career record, while he is seventh among active players at all levels of the NCAA in career homers.
On the year, Jones is batting .427 with 14 home runs and is seventh in Division III with 46 RBIs. In ASC play alone, Jones is hitting .490 with 12 homers, 33 RBIs, and 22 runs scored with a 1.836 OPS.
Jones' play has helped LeTourneau (18-13, 10-2 ASC) to 12 wins of the last 14 games.
LeTourneau returns to action on Wednesday with a four-game series at nationally-ranked East Texas Baptist (7 p.m.).
