NORMAN, Okla. -- After a record-breaking year, LeTourneau men's golf senior
Corbin Barton was named a GCAA/PING All-America third team selection, announced the organization on Wednesday.
Barton becomes the first LeTourneau golfer since 2003 to earn All-America honors and the first to collect an NCAA-recognized All-America award.
Barton earned ASC Golfer of the Year and GCAA/PING All-Region honors previously this season.
A senior from Longview, Texas, Barton has put on a record-breaking season in his return to the YellowJackets. Barton was named the ASC Golfer of the Year and collected All-ASC first team honors. He led the team in scoring average (72.94), which set a program season record. The senior won three tournaments and totaled eight top-10 finishes on the year, while being a four-time ASC Golfer of the Week selection.
His three tournament titles are the most in a season in program history, while his 101 birdies on the year season were also tops all-time. His 205, 8-under performance at the Golfweek October Fall Classic tied a program record for a 54-hole tournament.
Barton ranked as high as No. 4 nationally during the year and finished the year at No. 23 -- and at No. 2 regionally. He shot a season-best round of 66 three times during the year -- two of which were at 5-under -- and had 16 rounds at or below par. Barton played in 10 tournaments on the year and finished under par in six of those events.
Barton's play led LeTourneau to the program's third straight trip to the NCAA Division III Championships.Â
