VENTURA, Calif. -- The LeTourneau women's golf team fired a 307 and sits in fourth overall after round one of the California State Intercollegiate, hosted by Cal Lutheran at the par-72 Olivas Links.
Kinley Pessel is tied for the clubhouse lead after posting a 1-under, 71 in the opening round. Pessel is tied with Cal Lutheran's Anna Poulin and Kaylie Hesse for the lead. Cal Lutheran leads the team scoring after a 2-over, 290 on Monday.
As a team, LeTourneau shot a 18-over, 306. It is the second straight round the YellowJackets have bested a previous program team record for low round after LeTourneau had a 17-over, 305Â in the final round of the Tempest Intercollegiate.
Pessel, the reigning SCAC Golfer of the Week, shot under par for a second straight round. Her 1-under, 71 round was highlighted by four birdies, including three over her final nine holes.Â
Hannah Newell recorded a 4-over, 76 in the opening round with one birdie.
Emerson Swanner collected a 6-over, 78 while
Lexie Cannon finished round one with an 81.
Halle Carr posted an 86.
Playing as an individual,
Avery Streetman registered an 86 in the first round.
