SUWANEE, Ga. -- LeTourneau senior defender
Clarissa Martinez was honored as the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week, the SCAC announced on Tuesday.
Martinez, the senior from Richwood, Texas, garners her first career Player of the Week honor.
Martinez helped anchor a stout YellowJacket defense that shut out Central Baptist in Conway on Saturday, 5-0. Behind Martinez's efforts, the defense limited Central Baptist to only three shots and zero corner kicks, securing the first shutout for LeTourneau since September of 2024.
Martinez has been a defensive mainstay for the YellowJackets for the last three seasons, playing in 47 of a possible 48 games and racking up a staggering 4,074 minutes played. She is also an accomplished student, having earned All-Academic honors each of her first three years and a CSC Academic All-District honor last year.
Martinez and the YellowJackets will be back in action tomorrow against Belhaven in Jackson, Miss. at 5 p.m.
