SUWANEE, Ga. -- LeTourneau baseball sophomore
Blake Goodridge was named the SCAC Pitcher of the Week, for the period ending on Feb. 8, announced the league on Monday.
Goodridge becomes the first YellowJacket to garner conference weekly honors this season.
A sophomore from Keller, Texas, Goodridge made his LeTourneau debut in the YellowJackets' 7-0 win over Millsaps. The left-hander made the start and went six shutout innings producing nine strikeouts and scattering four hits with two walks. Goodridge threw 89 pitches, 56 of which were strikes. He retired seven straight batters at one point and all four hits allowed were singles.
A transfer from Austin College, Goodridge is in his first year with LeTourneau. His six innings on Saturday tied for the second-most he's thrown in a game and his nine strikeouts were a career-high.
Goodridge's performance led the YellowJackets to a win in game one of the doubleheader and LeTourneau won game two to clinch the season-opening series.
LeTourneau (2-1) is back in action on Friday at Austin College (7 p.m.).
