SUWANEE, Ga. -- With her first tournament medalist in the bag, LeTourneau women's golf junior
Emerson Swanner picked up SCAC Golfer of the Week honors, announced the conference on Wednesday.
It is the first time Swanner has earned SCAC weekly honors, and her second career conference golfer of the week.
A junior from Spring, Texas, Swanner claimed her first career tournament title and led LeTourneau to a second-place finish at the John Nellermoe Classic. Swanner tied with Concordia Texas' Katelyn Miller at 10-over, 154 for the tournament, but the LeTourneau junior outlasted Miller in the playoff to capture the title. Swanner shot a pair of 77s in the 36-hole tournament and made par on her 18th hole on Tuesday to force the playoff.
It was the first career tournament title for Swanner and her seventh career top-10 finish. Across 42.5 career rounds, Swanner has a scoring average of 81.39.
As a team, LeTourneau placed second in the 10-team field comprised mostly of SCAC foes.
LeTourneau will send golfers to the Jacksonville College Invitational on Sept. 28-29 at Cherokee Ranch Golf Club before hosting the Energy Weldfab Tempest Intercollegiate on Oct. 5-6.
