LONGVIEW, Texas – LeTourneau women's soccer was defeated by Texas-Tyler, 4-0, Friday night at LETU Soccer Field. The YellowJackets trailed the Patriots by just one at the half, but UT Tyler pulled away in the final 45 minutes.
"That was probably overall our best performance of the season," LeTourneau women's soccer head coach David Plunk said. "I think we're starting to come together as a team. It's taken us a little bit longer than I wanted to, but I think we're showing signs of improvement team-wise. A few players stepped up on the defensive end, and our goalkeepers did a pretty good job. For the most part, I'm pleased with our performance. I'm not pleased with the result, but the fact is we're improving."
The game was scoreless into the 34th minute, when Texas-Tyler's Chana Forstall scored on an assist from Caitlin Cronan to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Patriots.
In the second half, Charity Shipman and Kayla Akin scored on assists from Jordan Johnson, and Johnson provided the final margin with an unassisted goal in the 85th minute.
Jamie Aguillen made the start in goal for LeTourneau and played 57:12, making nine saves while allowing three goals. Nicole Kemper played 32:48 with three saves and one goal allowed. Kaitlyn Conway provided the lone shot on goal for the YellowJackets.
