YellowJacket Women's Soccer Loses to Ozarks,4-0

Box Score The LeTourneau University women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Ozarks on Saturday afternoon at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.

The game was delayed 30 minutes due to thunderstorms in the Longview area.

LeTourneau continued to assemble a ball-controlling approach to its attack  with its limited roster. With the ball-controlling approach, the YellowJackets had four shots including one on goal in the loss. The loss drops LeTourneau to 1-13 overall and 0-5 in the ASC. Freshman Raylene Gould and fellow freshman Stephanie Vana each had a pair of shots.

"We struggled a bit today being that unit that we have come to expect our team to be," said LETU head coach Jamie Lindvall.  "I thought we were definitely better together in the second half."
The Eagles, who improve to 6-8 overall and 1-4 in the ASC with the win, were led by the two goals by Victoria Romero. Both times, Romero went 1-on-1 with the LETU goalkeeper only to beat her to the lower right side for the goal in the 37th and 60th minute, respectively. Hannah Carter lobbed a shot in the 14th minute for the early 1-0 lead; later in the half, Ozarks' Haley Gilliam scored on a 1-on-1 play in the 28th minute to stretch the lead to 2-0. Ozarks goalkeeper Codie Freeman had a save for the shutout.

"I continue to be proud of this team but I think we expect more of ourselves. I'm looking forward to seeing us continue to serve each other and compete with excellence," said Lindvall.

The YellowJackets will wrap up the home portion of its schedule, next weekend, starting with Howard Payne on Friday, Oct. 18 at 4 p .m. at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
