RICHARDSON - The LeTourneau YellowJacket women's basketball season came to a close on Saturday as they took on the Texas-Dallas Comets in their seaosn finale. The Jackets struggled to slow down a hot shooting Comet squad and fell 63-41.
The Jackets (8-17, 5-13 ASC) got off to a great start as junior Andrea Aashley got a pair of layups to fall for the 4-0 lead. The Comets (17-8, 13-6 ASC) got four straight points, but freshman Ashley Stephens responded with a three point play followed by six straight points from freshman Erica Carson.
The Jackets scored 13 points in the first 10 minutes, but went ice cold for the remainder of the half, being outscored 18-4 and falling behind 30-17 at the break.
LeTourneau continued to struggle in the first three minutes of the second half before Ashley finally broke the drought.
From there, the Jackets fought, but did not have enough to keep up with Texas-Dallas as they pulled away and took a win on their Senior Day, 63-41.
Ashley played well in her final game of the season, scoring 15 points and pulling down five rebounds. Stephens added nine points while junior Julencia Curtis blocked four shots.
LeTourneau moves into the offseason and will say farewell to one senior, Lauren Llanes. The LeTourneau YellowJacket Athletic Department and the women's basketball team thanks her for contributions the last four years.
