DALLAS - The LeTourneau YellowJacket men's tennis team returned to action on Thursday as they took on the Dallas Baptist Patriots on the road. It was another solid outing for the men as they rolled by the Patriots, 8-1.
The No. 2 doubles team of sophomores Kendall Beggs and Sindre Johnsgaard and the No. 3 doubles team of junior Josh Bailey and freshman Michael McLaughlin knocked off their opponents in dominating fashion, 8-2. The No. 1 doubles team of senior Carlos Cantu and freshman Laird Beaty had a tougher time, but prevailed in a back and forth match, 8-6.
In singles competition, Johnsgaard at No. 4, Bailey and No. 5, and McLaughlin at No. 6 all domianted their competition to earn LeTourneau the team win. Beaty also picked up a win at No. 2 singles and the match of the night came at No. 1 singles where Cantu battled Phillip Allen to an epic three set match. After falling 6-2, Cantu battled back to win set two 7-5 and win the match with an 11-9 win in the tiebreaker.
LeTourneau is now 7-1 on the season and will return to action on Saturday at home as they take on the Millsaps Majors. First serve is set from 9 a.m. from Davis Tennis Courts.
