Zach Farris, junior
Timothy Black, and sophomore
Hayden Harry named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team, announced the organization on Tuesday.
CSC, formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
Farris, a senior from Lucas, Texas, earned his second career all-conference award for singles and becomes a seven-time all-conference honoree overall with his All-SCAC honors this year. At the top line in singles for the majority of the season, Farris compiled a 10-6 record in dual matches and was 12-9 overall. He went 9-4 at the top flight and was 6-3 against SCAC foes. He also earned All-SCAC second team in doubles with Black as the duo had a 13-4 record, including a 12-2 mark at the No. 2 flight. The tandem went 9-1 in conference matches and earned SCAC Doubles Team of the Week once (March 2).
Majoring in business finance, Farris becomes a three-time CSC Academic All-District honoree in tennis. He is a four-time conference all-academic selection and is a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Black, a junior from Lindale, Texas, was All-SCAC second team in doubles with Farris. he and Farris went 13-4 overall and 12-2 at the No. 2 flight in dual matches. Black won seven overall single matches on the year.
Majoring in interdisciplinary studies, Black earns his first career CSC Academic All-Distric nod. He was a two-time ASC Academic All-Conference honoree and collected ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades last season.
Harry, a sophomore from Flint, Texas, had a career-best season as he tallied an 8-8 record in singles in dual matches, and totaled 12 singles wins overall on the year. Harry held down the No. 6 flight for most of the season and compiled a 7-6 mark at the spot. He and
Diego Maldonado comprised the No. 3 flighted doubles team and went 10-7, including a 7-3 mark in SCAC play. Harry earned SCAC All-Tournament honors in singles.
Majoring in information systems, Harry earns his first career CSC Academic All-District selection and was both ASC Academic All-Conference and ITA Scholar-Athlete last season.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-America® program students must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be a significant contributor to the team (having played in 70 percent of the team's dates of competition), and be at least a sophomore academically.
