After the Wildcats (11-10) went down with nothing in the first, senior Jay Lutz and junior Dustin Varnado started the second with back-to-back singles. After a double steal by the two, Bohannon came to the plate and plated another run on a sac fly for a 3-0 lead.

Louisiana College got one back in the third, but the Jackets exploded in the third, beginning with a single from Methvin. After another out was recorded, Varnado singled to bring another run home and senior Brent Sellers tripled to right center to score two and increase the lead to 7-1.

The Wildcats then answered with five runs in the third to make it a one run ball game, but after two outs were recorded in the top of the fourth, sophomore Ryan Bertram got a rally started with a single to left.
