Box Score LONGVIEW - The LeTourneau YellowJackets came off one of their most complete games of the season on Friday evening and looked to push that momentum into Saturday as they took on the Texas-Dallas Comets. The Comets responded, shutting down the Jackets bat and taking a 6-0 victory. The rubber match, scheduled for today, was pushed back due to rain and will be played Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
The Comets started things off by getting two runs in the first inning thanks to a two RBI single with two outs. LeTourneau responded in the bottom half of the first by getting runners on first and second with one out, but an inning ending double play ended any threat.
Texas-Dallas used precise bunts and clutch hitting to score four in the second and take a 6-0 lead. LeTourneau, could not respond from there as they were limited by Comet starter Calvin Campbell, as he shutout the Jackets for the win.
Sophomore Cody Whitley struggled the first two innings, giving up six runs on nine hits through the first two innings. He did settle in though, only allowing three hits the rest of the way.
Offensively, the Jackets had come through with 28 hits in their last two games, but were only limited to four on Saturday with no player getting a multiple or extra base hit.
The Jackets will be back in action tomorrow as they take on the Comets in the rubber match at 1 p.m. There will be Live Video provided via Pack Network on letuathletics.tv.
