CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The LeTourneau YellowJacket women's tennis team continues to play great tennis in the last month as they traveled to Clarksville, Ark. to square off with the University of the Ozarks. In a tight, back-and-forth contest, the Jackets got a huge 5-4 win over the Eagles for their second ASC win of the season.
The Ozarks took the first point at No. 2 doubles, but the No. 1 doubles team of juniors Sarah Case and Kayla Bonina responded with a dominating 8-1 win over opponents to even the match. The Eagles got the lead though in doubles with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
LeTourneau responded at No. 1 singles as Case cruised to an easy 6-0, 6-0 win as she improved to 9-7 in singles competiion including five straight singles wins and a 4-0 record in conference. Bonina followed that up with a win at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-4 victory.
However, the Ozarks got the next two matches at No. 2 and No. 6 singles to take a 4-3 lead with two matches to go. Freshman Nell Spencer pulled out a gutsy three set victory which included wins in the final two sets to even the match.
From there, senior Miranda Lamb wrapped the match up with a 6-1, 7-6 win at No. 4 singles as the Jackets got a huge victory.
LeTourneau will be back in action on Thursday at home for their season finale as they welcome in the Texas-Tyler Patriots and the Louisiana College Wildcats in a doubleheader. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
