LONGVIEW - The LeTourneau YellowJacket men's tennis team welcomed in the No. 13 team in the nation, the UT-Tyler Patriots. The Jackets competed hard, but the Patriots were too much as they took a 7-2 win.
The Patriots took the first two points at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles for a 2-0 lead. However, the No. 1 doubles team of senior Carlos Cantu and freshman Laird Beaty responded with a huge 8-6 win over the Patriot No. 1 team to cut the deficit in half.
UT-Tyler was able to clinch the match as they swept No. 1, 2, and 3 in singles competition to take a 5-1 advantage. The Jackets did not go down without a fight as sophomore Sindre Johnsgaard picked up a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.
LeTourneau falls to 13-6 and 2-3 in the American Southwest Conference. They will conclude their season on Saturday as they welcome in the Louisiana College Wildcats. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
