MARSHALL - The LeTourneau YellowJacket men's tennis team continued its impressive season as they took on the East Texas Baptist TIgers on the road Thursday. The Jackets wasted no time with their rivals, dominating them to a 9-0 win for their first ASC win of the year.
The No. 3 doubles team of junior Josh Bailey and freshman Michael McLaughlin led things off with a convincing 8-1 win. Shortly after, the No. 1 doubles team of senior Carlos Cantu and freshman Laird Beaty and the No. 2 doubles teams of sophomore Kendall Beggs and Sindre Johnsgaard completed the doubles sweep with a pair of 8-2 wins.
Beaty led the singles action off with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and Beggs clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Cantu competed in the match of the night, coming from behind to defeat Tyler Tolopka at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Johnsgaard and McLaughlin cruised to 6-1, 6-0 victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles while freshman Morgan Weaver finished off the sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
LeTourneau improves to 1-1 in the ASC and will welcome in Louisiana College for conference play on Saturday. First serve at Davis Tennis Courts is set for 2 p.m.
