LONGVIEW - The LeTourneau YellowJacket men's tennis team concluded the 2013 season on Saturday afternoon as they welcomed in the Louisiana College Wildcats. The Jackets led early and often as they cruised to a 9-0 victory to end the season on a high note.
The Jackets were able to get some players on the court who have not played all season as they played extremely well. Sophomores Sindre Johnsgaard and Kendall Beggs led the No. 1 doubles team with an 8-0 win followed by another 8-0 win by the No. 2 doubles team of junior Josh Bailey and freshman Michael McLaughlin.
The No. 3 doubles team of freshmen John Smith and Morgan Weaver gave the Jackets the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win.
The Jackets continued to dominate in singles as McLaughlin took No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1 while Weaver and Smith won No. 2 and No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Johnsgaard took No. 4 singles while Bailey won No. 5 singles by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Taylor Gregoire finished things off with his first win of the season, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
The Jackets conclude their season with a 14-6 record and a 3-3 record in the American Southwest Conference. The Athletic Department would like to recognize the one senior on the team in Carlos Cantu, who has been a terrific player for the Jackets all four years he has been here. LeTourneau tennis thanks Carlos for his hard work on the court and off and will be greatly missed.
LeTourneau will return to action this upcoming fall with the ASC Individual Tournament and the ITA Tournament.
