Box Score LETU Women's Soccer returned to action tonight in their home opener at the Joyce Family Athletic Complex. Facing the visitors from Texas College, LeTourneau again took the field with 8 players. While 9 players have completely passed all of their fitness tests, a collision in Friday night's game vs. Texas Wesleyan has one of the nine sidelined temporarily. Battling through the first period, LeTourneau went into half time down 1-0, but having created multiple offensive opportunities in the final third throughout the first half. Following the intermission, Texas College got in behind and scored to make the score 2-0. The LeTourneau women countered quickly and won a corner shortly thereafter resulting in a goal off of a volley by freshman
Ashley Joyner, assisted by sophomore
Kaitlynn Conway. As the game progressed and the LeTourneau women pushed forward to even the score, Texas College would respond on their own counter and push the scoreline out of reach. "I again have to hand it to our women for showing such a great display of heart and character," commented LETU's head coach. "What this team is doing is extraordinary, being willing to put themselves individually behind the collective unit and serve each other regardless of the pain when they step inside the lines. For us to be consistently dangerous and to be consistently working to get forward and attack into the final minute of play shows the extraordinary nature and character that these women possess."
