The LeTourneau University men's tennis started the spring with a 7-2 win over Schreiner University on Friday afternoon in Longview.

The YellowJackets (1-0) started the day, sweeping the doubles. At No. 1 doubles,
Laird Beaty and
Kendall Beggs were victorious, 8-4, over the tandem from Schreiner. The YellowJackets won No. 2 doubles -
Sindre Johnsgaard and
Morgan Weaver – and No. 3 doubles –
John Smith and
Austin Haug – by matching scores of 8-6.

In singles action, LeTourneau won the first three flights – No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 – and No. 6. At No. 1 singles, Johnsgaard won a three-set match over Austin Carrola, 7-5, 3-6, 10-8. At No. 2 singles –
Laird Beaty and No. 3 singles –
Kendall Beggs – each won in straight sets. Beaty won 6-0, 6-3 over Stephen Rogers and Beggs was victorious 6-4, 6-1 over Josh Ramirez.
Tyler Grove began his freshman campaign with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Teg Lozano at No. 6 singles for the YellowJackets.

The YellowJackets will quickly turnaround and play three matches in two days, starting on Saturday, Feb. 15 against Temple Junior College at 2 p.m. in San Antonio. They will follow that up with a pair of matches on Sunday, Feb. 16 against University of the Southwest (10 a.m.) and Our Lady of the Lake (2 p.m.).
