LeTourneau Women's Tennis Picks Up 7-2 Win Over Howard Payne

The LeTourneau University women's tennis defeated Howard Payne, 7-2, in Longview on Thursday. The two teams continued their match after rain made for difficult conditions on Wednesday.

LeTourneau (4-3, 2-1) won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches in the win.

Senior Sarah Case won her second-consecutive match at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win and played with fellow senior Kayla Bonina as they won their fourth match of the spring with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.

Senior Shelby May also won her second-straight match of the spring at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-4 win. Plus, senior Kayla Bonina improved to 5-1 on the spring with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.

Freshman Amy Miley raised her record to 4-2 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles and she teamed up with sophomore Victoria Zhang to post an 8-2 win at No. doubles.  Zhang also won her first singles match of the spring with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.

LeTourneau will host Ozarks on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Davis Tennis Courts in a crucial matchup in the American Southwest Conference. Last year, LeTourneau edged Ozarks, 5-4. In that win, LeTourneau was victorious at No. 1, 3, 4 and 5 singles and No. 1 doubles.
