YellowJackets Rout Ozarks, 8-1

The LeTourneau University women's tennis team stretched its winning streak to three with an 8-1 win over Ozarks on Friday afternoon.

The YellowJackets (5-3, 3-1 ASC) swept through the doubles – winning all three matches and won five of six singles matches.

"The women played consistent, focused matches today to beat a tough conference opponent," said head coach Suzanne Merritt.  "I'm very excited with the way they continue to improve. Our spring break matches will give us the opportunity to continue working on some specific areas as we prepare for the rest of our conference matches."

Seniors Sarah Case (No. 1 singles) and Kayla Bonina (No. 3 singles) were both victorious to extend their winning streaks at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively to three. The duo combined for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.

Senior Shelby May, also extended her winning streak to three, with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. She teamed up with freshman Amy Miley to post an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. Amy Miley also won at No. 5 singles by a 6-0, 6-1 margin.

Miranda Lamb, in her 2013-14 debut, was victorious at No. 4 singles. Lamb teamed up with Kristi Miley to post a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles.

The YellowJackets will now travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama for Spring Break where they will play three matches. While in the Gulf Shores, they will face Hendrix on Mar. 9 at 10 a.m.; Transylvania University on Mar. 10 at 4:30 p.m. and wrap up the trip with a 10 a.m. contest against the University of Mobile on Mar. 11 at 10 a.m.
