Box Score The storybook season for the LeTourneau University baseball team ended in a 2-1 loss to No. 10 Cal Lutheran on Friday in an elimination game at the McMannville Regional.
 
The YellowJackets (33-15) defied the odds throughout the season as they were picked ninth in the preseason American Southwest Conference coaches' poll. From there, LeTourneau went on to earn its first-ever national ranking, American Southwest Conference Tournament Championship and NCAA Regional Tournament appearance.
 
The Kingsmen (36-9) scored a run each in the bottom of the second and in the fifth to support starting pitcher Scott Peters, who held the YellowJackets to seven hits and a run – earned and struck out four in the win to improve to 6-2.

Trailing 2-0 in the top of the seventh, LeTourneau sophomore Dillon Yates hit a solo homerun to cut the deficit to one. The YellowJackets mounted a threat in the ninth when graduate student Garrett Methvin singled to center field to start the inning. After back-to-back strikeouts by reliever A. Roth, David Perkins singled to center field to put runners on first and second. Then, a passed ball by the Kingsmen moved pinchrunners Jordan Argabright and Bryce Henry to second and third, respectively. Roth got a ground out to end the contest and the season for the YellowJackets.
 
Junior Justin Jenkins was the tough-luck loser for LeTourneau, who went eight innings for his fifth complete game of the season. The Hallsville native allowed just three hits, two runs (both earned), walked two and struck out four in the loss to fall to 8-4.
