The LeTourneau University men's tennis team split a pair of matches, losing to Southwestern University – 8-1 and defeating Jacksonville College - 6-3 on Saturday at the Davis Tennis Courts.
In pre-match festivities against Jacksonville, LeTourneau honored seniors
Kendall Beggs,
Taylor Gregoire and
Sindre Bondal Johnsgaard for their contributions to the program, both on and off the court.
The lone win for LeTourneau against Southwestern University came at No. 2 singles by Johnsgaard, who defeated Ayinde Hall, 6-1, 6-2.
LETU (3-6) started the afternoon contest with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles for an early 2-1 lead. The Jaguars picked up a win at No. 1 singles to even the match at two. Then, the YellowJackets clinched the match with wins at No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 singles. All four victories came in straight sets for the YellowJackets. The last win for Jacksonville came at No. 6 singles for the final margin. The win over the Jaguars snapped a four-match losing streak for LETU.
Next, LeTourneau will return to the rigors of the road when they travel to Seguin on Monday to face Texas Lutheran University at noon.
