The LeTourneau University men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 20 UT Tyler on Thursday at the Davis Tennis Courts in Longview.
"It was a tough match and tough conditions today for the men, but they played with a lot of heart," said LETU head coach
Suzanne Merritt. "We see areas of improvement in some areas and will use our Spring Break trip to continue to work and prepare for the upcoming conference matches."
The YellowJackets (2-2, 0-1 ASC) started with three losses in doubles as LETU shuffled its lineup. LETU paired up
Kendall Beggs and Sindre Johnsgaard at No. 1 doubles,
Michael McLaughlin and Ty Grove at No. 2 doubles and
Robbie Bundy and
Brandon Brenchley at No. 3 doubles. The Patriots won at No. 1 and 2 by 8-0 scores and Bundy and Brenchley dropped an 8-1 decision at No. 3.
LETU also shuffled up its lineup in singles for the matchup against the nationally-ranked team. At No. 1 singles, Johnsgaard dropped a 6-1, 7-5 decision to Daniel Budd and at No. 2 singles, Beggs was a 6-2, 6-0 loser to Harry Kelleher. At No. 3 singles,
Michael McLaughlin lost 6-3, 7-5 to Frankie Fischer and at No. 4 singles Ty Grove lost 6-1, 6-0 to Ryan Elwood. UT Tyler wrapped up the match with wins at No. 5 singles and No. 6 singles. The YellowJackets'
Robbie Bundy at No. 5 singles lost to Jack Puckey and
Brandon Brenchley was a 6-2, 6-1 loser at No. 6 singles to Cameron McCarthy.

Next week, LETU will be on spring break and make a return trip to Orange Beach, Alabama where they will play five matches in three days.Â
