The LeTourneau University baseball team wrapped up the regular season with an 8-0, 14-4 (7 inning) doubleheader sweep of the University of the Ozarks on Saturday.
The YellowJackets (14-15, 12-11 ASC) winners of seven of its last night games including a series sweep of Ozarks. Strengthened by solid pitching on Saturday, LETU had 11 and 10 hits, respectively to pull off the doubleheader sweep. YellowJacket starting pitchers
Jordan Carns (game 1) and
Cody Whitley (game 2) held the Eagles in check for most of the doubleheader.
Carns pitched a complete game shutout in game one, allowing five hits and striking out six in the win. Whitley followed that up with his in his final start, scattering seven hits, four runs (all earned) and struck out five in the win.

Offensively, 11-different players contributed to the 21-hit parade in the doubleheader sweep, plus eight players had multiple hits and seven had multiple RBI.

Rayne Hobbs had two hits and three RBI in the nightcap to lead the YellowJackets.In game one, LeTourneau quickly built a 5-0 advantage in game one through the first three innings. Then, the YellowJackets added another run in the fourth and two more in the sixth to complete the game one win.

In game two, Ozarks built a 4-1 lead through the first three until the YellowJackets' offense blew the game open with a four-run fourth to take a 5-4 lead. Then, the YellowJackets seized the game with a nine-run sixth inning with 15 batters coming to the plate for LETU.

LeTourneau will now turn its attention to defending its American Southwest Conference Tournament title. The YellowJackets, who enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed will face Mary Hardin-Baylor, the No. 5 seed, on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Tornado Field in Austin, Texas on the campus of Concordia.
