SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Finishing their three-match road trip with an early morning match against Sul Ross State, the LeTourneau University women's tennis team would come away with a 6-3 neutral site win in San Antonio, Texas on Sunday, March 11th.

The win allows for LETU to improve to 4-2 overall and finish their three-match weekend road swing with a 2-1 record. Sul Ross State slipped to 2-7 overall with the loss.

"We had three days of strong competition from our players on this road trip" said head coach Suzanne Merritt in a post-match interview. "Today we had to play smart in tough and windy conditions after two days of long, close matches." "Our players showed a lot of determination and focus today to get the team win and we are starting to see things we want to continue to work on as we get ready for our upcoming matches."

LeTourneau would take control early on in the doubles matches, winning both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches while earning a default win in the No. 3 doubles match due to the Lobos not having enough players. Maddison Brackenreg and Gracie Favela would earn their fourth No. 1 doubles match of the year by a score of 8-3 while Terin Murray and Katy Hall picked up an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.

The match would tighten following the first two singles matches of the day as Murray would drop her first No. 1 singles match of the year by a score of 6-3, 6-1 after the YellowJackets would get a default win for Hannah Moore at No. 6 singles. Favela would battle back from a 6-4 first set loss to win the second set of her No. 2 singles match by a score of 6-4, but fall by a score of 10-5 in the tiebreaker to see the Lobos close the gap to 4-2 with three matches to play. Hall would earn the match-deciding victory with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles while Samantha Trevino earned her second victory of the year with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. The only other match of the day would see Rockwell fall at No. 4 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-4.

A return to the Davis Tennis Courts is in store for LeTourneau, taking on Texas Lutheran University in a non-conference match starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13th.
