Men's Tennis Downs Texas Lutheran 6-3

LONGVIEW, Texas - Led by a strong performance from the top half of the the lineup, the LeTourneau Univeristy men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 home win over Texas Lutheran University at the Davis Tennis Courts on Tuesday, March 13th. 

LETU improved to 3-5 overall with the victory and picks up their second consecutive victory while the Bulldogsfell to 5-3 overall. 

The YellowJackets would take a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches, taking wins in both the number one and number two doubles matches before dropping the number three doubles match. Christian Farris and Jimmie Henson earned an 8-1 win at number one doubles before seeing Robby Bundy and Zac Crowley-Kurth earn a 9-7 victory at number two doubles which would clinch a lead heading into singles play. The number three doubles match would not go in the favor of LETU as Nash Best and Dale Wallace could not overcome an early defiict in an 8-2 defeat. 

Farris would make quick work of his opponent at number one singles, earning a 6-2, 6-4 victory while Henson would earn a 7-5, 6-2 win at number two doubles to put the YellowJackets just one point away from the team victory. A come-from-behind victory by Bundy at number three singles (5-7, 6-3, 11-9) clinched the victory for LeTourneau, which would be followed up by a number four singles victory for Crowley-Kurth by scores of 3-6, 6-3, 10-3. LETU's only two losses in singles play came at number five and six singles, with Collin Patterson (number five singles, 1-6, 1-6) and Cameron Wall (number six singles, 7-6 {7-4}, 3-6, 6-10) both dropping their respective matches. 

Tuesday's match will be the only action of spring break week for the LeTourneau men, with the next action for the YellowJackets coming on Monday, March 19th at 9 a.m. against Wisconsin Eau-Claire.
