RESULTS
LONGVIEW, Texas - The LeTourneau University women's tennis team lost to visiting Texas A&M University-Texarkana by a final score of 5-1 at the Davis Tennis Courts on Monday, March 19th.
LETU is now 5-5 overall while the Eagles picked up their ninth win of the year in 15 tries.
The match, which would serve as the second match of the day for both the YellowJackets and TAMU-Texarkana, was played until one team clinched victory meaning that the number four and number six singles matches were not played.
In doubles play, Texas A&M-Texarkana earned victories in all three matches as
Maddison Brackenreg and
Gracie Favela fell by a score of 9-7 at number one singles to begin the match. At number two doubles,
Terin Murray and
Katy Hall fell by a score of 9-8 (8-2) while the number three doubles match featured
Lauren Rockwell and
Mikayla Thomas falling by a score of 8-4.
TAMU-Texarkana would earn a default win at number one singles, and take a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Favela at number three singles to clinch the match. LeTourneau's only point of the evening came in a 6-3, 6-1 win at number five singles for Rockwell while the number two singles match featuring Murray went unfinished after the match was clinched.
LETU will host Colorado Christian University on Thursday, March 22nd at the Davis Tennis Courts with first serve scheduled for 3 p.m. The Cougars will visit Longview as part of their 2018 spring break trip and are currently 6-6 heading into a Wednesday match with Texas Lutheran University.
