Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas - After falling behind 2-1 following doubles play, the LeTourneau University men's tennis team would be unable to complete a comeback in a 7-2 home loss to Austin College at the Davis Tennis Courts on Saturday, March 3rd.
LETU finishes their Saturday doublleheader with a 1-1 record, leaving the YellowJackets at 1-3 overall on the year.
LeTourneau's lone doubles point would come from
Christian Farris and
Jimmie Henson in a 9-8 (7-4) No. 1 doubles in over Kenneth Hardy and Josh Granberg. The No. 2 doubles match would see senior
Robby Bundy and junior
Zac Crowley-Kurth fall to Siddharth Kortikere and Calum Robe 8-5 while
Dale Wallace and
Nash Best dropped their doubles match 8-3 to Andres Padilla and Travis Fortune.
In singles action, the 'Roos would pick up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles with Henson falling to Hardy 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Bundy losing 6-2, 6-4 to Kortikere. The YellowJackets would hold off AC from clinching the match in the No. 1 singles match with Farris earning a come-from-behind 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory over Granburg, but would see Austin College clinch the match at No. 5 singles with Padilla defeating Best 6-1, 6-0. Other singles action on Saturday evening would see Crowley-Kurth be unable to overcome Robe in a 6-3, 7-5 loss while Wallace II fell 6-1, 6-2 to Erik Meendsen.
Next week will have the YellowJackets in action a total of three times, starting Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Belton, Texas at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
