RESULTS
ABILENE, Texas – LeTourneau University men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the American Southwest Conference Championships Saturday. The meet was hosted by McMurry University at the Abilene Christian University Cross Country Course.
Fueled by personal-best performances from all nine runners and four Top 25 finishes, the YellowJackets finished with a total of 97 points in the 8K event. The University of Texas-Dallas defended its conference title with 43 points. Hardin-Simmons was the runner-up with 56 points, and University of the Ozarks third with 68.
LETU's
Lorien Nightingale finished sixth overall with a time of 26:45.36, up 11 places from his performance at the ASC championship meet in 2018.
Spencer Gambrell came in next for the YellowJackets with a 14
th place finish in 27:20.5.
Garrett Oehlert finished 24
th with a time of 27:54.8, and was immediately followed by a 25
th place finish by
Will Hilscher in 27:56.1.
Daniel Lopez and
Nathan Glastetter also turned in consecutive finishes, placing 29
th and 30
th with times of 28:29.6 and 28:33, respectively.
McKenzie Kidd finished 39
th overall with a time of 29:05.4.
Jamin Emerson came in 66
th place with a time of 30:45, and
Simon Winikka rounded out the YellowJackets' final race with a 68
th place finish in 30:49.7.
For the second consecutive year, LETU put two Jackets on the all-conference list. Nightingale earned his second all-conference recognition, but his first as a First Team All-ASC selection, and Gambrell earned Second Team honors in his initial collegiate year. The all-conference list was announced during the post-race awards ceremony.
Both Nightingale and Gambrell will represent the YellowJackets at the 2019 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Meet hosted by Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, on Saturday, November 16.
