YellowJackets welcome Blazers Thursday

GAME 7
•    After sweeping the opening weekend of American Southwest Conference play, LETU continues its homestand Thursday against Belhaven.
•    Gametime is 7:30 p.m. with the stream and live stats available at letuathletics.com.
•    LETU is off to its best start through six games in the NCAA era, which began in the 1999-2000 season, after narrowly escaping with an 81-80 victory over Howard Payne December 4.

•    Belhaven earned its first league win with a 74-65 home victory over McMurry December 4. With the win, the Blazers improved 3-3 overall and 1-2 in ASC play, their final campaign before moving to the USA South Conference at the end of the 2021-22 academic year.
•    The YellowJackets look for their first 3-0 start in league play since 2008-09, when they won their first six ASC contests.

LETU ALL-TIME VS. BELHAVEN
•    LETU is 12-0 against the Blazers, including 6-0 in Solheim Arena.
•    The YellowJackets have outscored Belhaven 1226-988, averaging 102-82.
•    LETU tallied at least 100 points in 8-of-12 games in the series, while holding the Blazers below the century mark in all 12 games and surrendering 90-plus points on two occasions.

LAST SEASON VS. BELHAVEN
•    The teams played twice, with the YellowJackets outscoring the Blazers 198-167 in the season sweep.
•    Belhaven nearly snapped the losing streak in the first game, a 92-90 defeat at Solheim. LETU registered a 25-point triumph in game two, a 102-78 decision.
•    Game one saw nine ties and 21 lead changes, with the last coming on a jumper from John Argue with 15 seconds remaining, putting LETU up 91-90.
•    Deonte Jackson led four YellowJackets in double-digit scoring, tallying 27. Andrew Eberhardt and Argue finished with 16 each, while Jordan Pride dropped in 13.
•    In game two, Jackson stole the show in the final regular season game as the YellowJackets freshman guard tied an American Southwest Conference record in Friday's 103-78 win at Belhaven. Jackson went 16-for-16 from the free throw line. He tied the ASC record for free throw percentage in a game, matching that of Rocky Feliciano of Sul Ross State, who went 16-for-16 versus Dallas Christian on Dec. 10, 2015, and Josiah Johnson, who equaled those numbers on Jan. 14.

NOTABLES
•    The YellowJackets tallied at least 79 points in five of six games this season, averaging 87.0, while holding opponents to 75.5.
•    Four of the six opponents were held to 80 points or below.
•    LETU opened the ASC campaign by keeping both opponents below 40 percent from the field.

STARTING LINEUP
•    Eberhardt, Kyle Matthews, Warren Richardson, Christian Adams and Jackson have started all six games.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES
•    Eberhardt, Jackson and Matthews represented the YellowJackets on the ASC Preseason Watch List.
    •    Eberhardt earned All-ASC East Division First Team honors after the 2020-21 season.
•    Jackson garnered ASC East Division Freshman of the Year, All-ASC East Division First Team and All-ASC East Division Freshman Team honors after his sensational rookie campaign.
•    Matthews shined on the defensive end of the court, collecting All-ASC East Division Defensive Team hardware.    

TEAM NOTES
•    Head coach James Wallace is in his first season at the helm after seven seasons as an assistant with the YellowJackets.
•    LETU tallied 50 points in four of the the first four games this season.
•    Adams made LETU's first basket of the season, a jumper 81 seconds into the game.
•    Adams earned his first-career start after transferring from East Texas Baptist.
•    Eberhardt finished with 30 points against crown and totaling 68 to earn All-Pioneer Pre-Thanksgiving Classic Most Valuable Player.
    •    This was his second-consecutive game with 30 or more points and third of his career.
    •    It's his was eighth career game with 20-plus points and 31st double-digit performance.
•    Richardson registered his second career double-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds against Crown.
    •    He joined Eberhardt on the All-Pioneer Pre-Thanksgiving Classic Team.   
    •   This is his second 20-point game in succession, and third career, all coming this season.
•    Jackson chipped in with 15 points, nailing all three of his three-point attempts against Crown.
    •    He's finished 10-plus points in all four contests this season.
•    Pride grabbed seven boards against Bethany Lutheran before repeating the feat  against Crown, setting and matching the most in his career.
•    Kyce Wilson tallied eight points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal and a solo block against Crown.
